It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Virginia Niewald (Bicknell, Indiana), who passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Ralph Wendell Niewald; her parents, James Swanay and Lela Robertine Swanay; and her sisters, Dorothy Ellen Swanay and Mary Jane Conrad.
She is survived by: her son Paul W. Niewald (Cynthia Niewald); her granddaughters, Emily Niewald and Katy Clark; her great grandchildren, Nara, Siona, Rumy and Sylvia; her brother James Swanay, Jr.; and her sibling's children, Karen Pieper, Linda Strain, David Conrad and James Swanay, III.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church (309 W 3rd St, Bicknell, IN 47512). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
