He is survived by: his wife Beryl Poteat; his children, Martin Daniel Poteat, Aaron James Poteat (Leonani), Timothy Michael Poteat, Michelle Lynne Zeegers and Kristin Beryl Poteat; his grandchildren, Gabriela Poteat, Micah Poteat, Jacob Poteat, Kamryn Poteat, Laura Parton, Skylar Zeegers, Hannah Zeegers, Payton Zeegers, Logan Whitman, Aryanna Whitman, Faryn Belger, Emory Belger and Gwyneth Belger; his great grandchildren, Lana Winings, Athena Winings, Kayden Winings, Tatum Parton and Kolbie Parton; and his brother Charles Poteat.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (4235 W 3rd St, Bloomington, IN 47403).
