She was predeceased by: her father Luther Vernon Elliott Sr.; her husband Paul D. Messel; her siblings, Vivian Peterman (Frank), Nita Bowlen and Luther Vernon Elliott Jr. (Bess); and her brothers-in-law, Jerry Messel and Ron Hawkins.
She is survived by: her daughters, Tina Messel-Tracy (Kevin) and Penny Messel-Jeffries (John); her grandchildren, Rebecca Hewins (Vince Leslie), Miranda Hewins (Tom Knecht) and Nick Chandler (Misty Young); her sisters, Joy Heller (Dennis) and Jane Chamberlin (Herman); her siblings-in-law, Marilyn Hawkins and Jack Bowlen; and her pet Bowie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
