He was predeceased by: his parents, William T. Messel and Hallie Messel (Mallory); and his brother Paul Messel. He is survived by: his grandson Brody; his daughter Jerri Goodwin (Robert III); his sister Marilynn Hawkins (Ronald Hawkins); and his grandson Airman.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
