He was predeceased by: his friend Richard Helms; his former wife Janice Gootee-Pickens; his parents, Carl Wayne and Ola Jean Pickens (Knight); and his nephews, Matt and Michael.

He is survived by: his friends, Sandy Sabbagh and De Ann Wright; his wife Beth Anne Robinson; his son Andrew Chad Pickens (Amy); his grandchildren, Stuart Pyclik (Alice), Jessica Pyclik (Noah Zimmer), Johnathan Pyclik, Abigail Pickens, James Pyclik and Andrew Pyclik; his sister Judy Kay Medlin; and his nieces, Dani Michelle and Julie.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Powell (3000 E 3rd St, Bloomington, IN 47401). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomington Animal Shelter or the Monroe County Humane Association.
