He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Mullis and Caroline Mullis (Fulford); his granddaughter Mia Ritchie; and his brothers, Robert "Buck" Mullis and Justin Mullis.

He is survived by: his children, Camden Ritchie (Michael) and Anthony Scott Mullis; his grandchildren, Leo and Theo Ritchie; and his siblings, Terry D. Mullis, Timothy D. Mullis (Susan), Vernon D. Mullis (Kathy), Cheryl A. Welch (Mike) and Diana S. Fisher (David). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
