He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville "Flick" Shields and Maxine Shields (Brown); and his sister Joyce Thatcher. He is survived by: his wife Linda Shields (Ison); his daughters, Lisa Mace (Roy), Michelle Ratts (Tracy) and Kim DuKate (Don); his grandchildren, Cody Ratts (Ashley), Casey Ratts (Christina), Melisa Carey (Brian), Coreen Roberts, Tritan Ratts (Marissa), Troy Mace, Tyler DuKate (Jordan) and Hunter DuKate; his great grandchildren, Cade, Zane Roberts, Alisa, Waylon Carey, Maddie Mace, Ella and Lucas DuKate; his siblings, Carl Shields (Sandy), June Kelly (Bruce), Alvin Shields, Calvin "Arnold" Shields (Linda), Dick Shields (Patty) and Ikey Shields (Barbara); and his pets, Rascal and Gracie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Apostolic Bible Church in Bloomington, Indiana.
