He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Edward and Nina Adele Carnes (McDaniel); his son-in-law Joe Sheedy; and his granddaughter Natasha Strunk. He is survived by: his wife Shirley K. Banks-Carnes of Bloomington; his children, Jacqueline Phelps (Robert) of Kokomo, April Sheedy of Greenfield and Craig Summitt of Indianapolis; his granddaughter Joni Vibbart (Mike); and his children, Jawna Banks, Janelle Banks-Deckard (Mike), Joseph Pimentelli, Lana Larson, Katie Foster (Jonathon), Katrina Martin (Brandon), Heather Neat (EJ), Darrin Phelps (Jessie), Kimberly Tankersly (Nick) and Kacie Fulk (Dominic). He is also survived by Twelve great grandchildren.
