We are sad to announce that on May 14, 2023, at the age of 88, Vernita Bowlen (Bloomington, Indiana), born in Spencer, Indiana passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Vernita Bowlen to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Luther Elliott and Mabel Elliott (Hamm); her siblings, Vivian Peterman and Vernon Elliott; and her brothers-in-law, Paul Messel, Frank Peterman and Carl Bradley.

She is survived by: her husband John "Jack" Bowlen; her sons, Eddie (Brenda), Doug (Terina), Eric (Lori) and Bradley (Shelley); her sisters, Jane Chamberlin (Herman), Betty Messel and Joy Heller (Dennis); and her sister-in-law Bess Elliott. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Nita's memory to Liberty Church of Christ or Liberty Cemetery Fund.
