He was predeceased by: his father Max Thompson; his father-in-law Millard Cox; and his siblings, Charles "Chuck" Thompson, Patty Thompson, Joy Trout (Elmer) and Jimmy Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Candace Cox Thompson; his children, Debbie Hutcheson, Cindy Davis, Chad Thompson (Leah), Alfie Thompson (Carrie), Becky Taylor (Wayne), David Niewald (Lori) and B. J. Frazee (Jayme); his brother Randy Thompson (Marg); his mother-in-law Nancy K. Cox; and his sisters-in-law, Dawn Johnston (Butch), Julie Pell (Mike) and Nora Crowder (George). He is also survived by nineteen granchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
