He was predeceased by: his father Ted Elwell; his sister Connie Adamson; his uncles, Bill Elwell and Rex Elwell; and his aunt Patricia Ward.

He is survived by: his friends, Jimmy Fults, Franch Cody and Dave Patrick; his wife Karen Cunningham; his stepmother Peggy Pierce Elwell; his siblings-in-law, Larry and Roxie Cunningham; his nieces and nephews, Danielle Blakely (Russ), Casey Clark (Chuckie), Carrie Cunningham (Ben), Travis Douglas, Andy Cunningham and Tyler Cunningham (Leesha); and his cousins, Larry Elwell (Donna), Vicki Atkinson (Frank) and Rexanne Laue (Jerry).
