He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Cantrell and Edith Cantrell (Castle); his wife Sharlene Carper; and his siblings, Albert Cantrell, Virginia Blair and Neva Lyons.
He is survived by: his daughters, Brenda Shaw (Charles) and Lois Downing (Shane); and his grandchildren, T. J. Modesitt (Sasha), Mitchell Modesitt (Candra), Vanessa Modesitt (Christy), Cory Smith, Brandon Smith (Stephanie), Sarah Jones (Dillon), Logan Downing (Audrey) and Drake Downing (Cayla). He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
