She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Smith and Sarah Smith (Reese); her husband Melvin H. Hertel; her daughter Melinda G. Monroe; and her siblings, Patricia Smith, Lettie Powers, Oceola Browning, Audrey Phillips, Leona Allen, Dorothy Riley, William Smith, Leonard'Dutch'Smith, Forrest D. Smith and Jim Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Mike Hertel (Glenna) of Brookville, Mark Hertel (Gina) of Brookville, Matt Hertel (Jamie) of Batesville and Melanie Hertel of Aurora, Indiana; her son-in-law John Monroe of Brookville, Indiana; her grandchildren, Ben Cummins, Bethany Whalen (Luke), Sarah Monroe (Thomas Bonwell), Katraca Eversole (Jerry) and Tim Metcalfe; her great grandchildren, Jax Cummins, Lilah Cummins, Kolbrie Cummins, Cameron Metcalfe, Dylan Metcalfe, Emily Metcalfe and Jacksen Robinson; and her sister June Turco of Hamilton, Ohio..
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home (1025 Franklin Ave, Brookville, IN 47012). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 at the Maple Grove Cemetery (8126 Maple Grove Rd, Brookville, IN 47012).
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
