Charles leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Charles’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Charles will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles E. Smitburn and Edna Anderson Smitburn; and his brother J. Eric Smithburn of South Bend, IN.. He is survived by: his wife Susan; his daughters, Erika Kanczuzewski, Jennifer Smithburn, Erin Marty (Todd), Lori Fulton and Lisa Lutz (Ron); and his nephew Scott Smithburn. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, a new great granddaughter.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Roscka Roth & Clapper Funeral Home (6368 US-24, Monticello, IN 47960).
