He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Nelson and Naoma Nelson (Martin); and his sister Phyllis Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Susan Nelson; his children, Keith Nelson, Scott Nelson, Joyce Nelson, Brent Nelson, Heather Englert, John Dotlich and Holly Husby; and his sisters, Sherry Nelson and Paula Harlow. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Matthews Mortuary (690 E 56th St, Brownsburg, IN 46112). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Crown Hill Cemetery (700 W 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
