He was predeceased by : his parents, Roy Koontz and Edna Koontz; and his siblings, Roy, Jack Koontz, Mary Ellan Ebert, Barbara Strain and Joyce Carson.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Lou Koontz; his children, Mark Koontz (Jeanie), Amy Biggers (Charlie), Troy Unland (Donna), Terri Mossbrucker (Mike) and Tonda Mucho (Scott); and his siblings, James Koontz and Doris Beckwith. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
