He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Gillis and Flora Gillis (McInnis); and his wife Helen (Mulcrone). He is survived by: his children, Kathleen Welch (Larry), William Gillis (Pamela) and Ann Gillis (Timothy Gagnon); his grandchildren, Corinne Gilchrist (Malcolm), Matthew Welch, Rebecca Sharaya (Joseph), Justin Gillis, Ryan Gillis (Nichole) and Andrew Gillis (Eleia); and his great grandchildren, Abi, Peighton, Colton, Alexa, Teagan, Hadley, Thomas, Isla and Miriam. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home (980 N Newburgh Rd, Westland, MI 48185). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 at 10:30 AM and at 11:00 AM at the Our Joy Catholic Church (8200 N Wayne Rd, Westland, MI 48185).
