He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Ashby and June Porter (Wallace); his wife Candace "Candy" Ashby; and his brother James "Jim" Ashby. He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth "Libby" Paulshock (Jeff), Christopher "Chris" Ashby (Shelby), Michael Ashby (Eunyoung) and Amy Thompson (Tim); his grandchildren, Joshua Knaus (Stephanie), Joel Young, Sam Coon, Connor Ashby (Emily), Jack-Ryan Ashby (Lauren), Oliver Ashby, Dalma Ashby, Sejon Ashby, Mallory Habig (Nick) and Nick Shinneman; and his sister Lois Carpenter. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jack's name to the Madison County SPCA Humane.
