He was predeceased by: his wife Nannette Toups Schmitt; his daughter Lisa; his parents, Richard B. Schmitt and Alice Manning Schmitt; and his brother Lawrence Schmitt.
He is survived by: his daughter Erin Beery (Jack); his grandsons, Britt Beery and Bryce Beery; his daughter Deborah Schmitt; his cousins, John Wolf (Nancy) and Fritz Kreutzinger (Sharon); and his siblings-in-law, Peter Toups (Denise), Prosper Toups (Beverly) and Fay Toups. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
