She was predeceased by: her husband Venkat Ellur; and her parents, Venkata Setty and Lakshmi Setty. She is survived by: her daughters, Uma Staehler (David) and Usha Hecht (Greg); and her granddaughters, Rani Hecht and Nina Hecht. She is also survived by three siblings in India and a large extended family.
