She was predeceased by: her parents, William Alexander and Opal Alexander; her husband Melvin Whiting; her son Martin Whiting; her brothers, Jack Alexander and Jim Alexander; her grandson Jeremy Hill; and her great great grandchild Everett Koontz.
She is survived by: her children, Edward Whiting (Carol) of Battle Creek, Linda Burt (Russ) of Battle Creek, Brenda Sharkey of Bridgeport and Ronda Saldana (Rick) of Concord; her daughter-in-law Ruth Whiting of Battle Creek; and her close friend Sandy Rogers. She is also survived by 71 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Erma's memory to Battle Creek Baptist Temple.
