She was predeceased by: her parents, Leo Schlachter and Anna Schlachter (Brosmer); her husband Robert Lee Knies; her children-in-law, Mike Gehlhausen and Tracey Knies; her granddaughter Peyton Knies; and her siblings, Veronica "Fronie" Raufeisen, Ray Schlachter, Leroy Schlachter, Arthur Schlachter, Jerome Schlachter, Tharcilla "Sally" Nordhoff, Helen Kluesner and Sylvester Schlachter.

She is survived by: her children, Monica Gehlhausen of Jasper, IN, Roxann Uppencamp (Dennis) of Portersville, IN, Robert Jr. Knies (Susanne) of Arlington, TX and Rodney Knies of Jasper, IN. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Celestine Church (6864 IN-64, Eckerty, IN 47116). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
