With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph Gates of Chandler, Indiana, who passed away on July 10, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Joseph departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Joseph may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Joseph leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Gates and Corrine Gates (Biggs); his wife Dorothy Gates; and his sons, Joseph Gates Jr. and Edward Gates.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Shaffer and Dennis Gates (Tammy); and his stepson Bobby Folz (Dee Ann). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Koehler Funeral Home - Perigo Chapel (7022 Heim Rd, Chandler, IN 47610). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
