He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Compton and Katherin Grant (Morgan); his stepfather Gary Grant; his brother Jack Compton Jr.; and his brother-in-law Terry Kahafer.
He is survived by: his son Shane Compton; his granddaughter Hannah Compton; his stepdaughter Katie Poore Coomer; his fiancé Kim Huff; his sisters, Tammy Kahafer and Brenda Ross (Jim); his nephews, Terry Kahafer Jr. and Carter Snyder; and his niece Riley Simms. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
