He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack and Marcia. He is survived by: his brother Drew Olson (Felicia) of Sandy Springs, Georgia; his nephews, Jack, Matthew, Nate and Asher; and his cousins, Donna, Bobby, Doreen, Bill, Lisa, Marlena and Kathy.

In July 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jonny relocated to Chesterton, Indiana.
