He is survived by: his wife Karen Szczerba (Evers); his stepchildren, Brett Abatie (Jennifer) and Amy Abatie; his grandchildren, Joshua (Rebecca), Austin Abatie and Milena Letic; and his nephew Jacob Evers.

In lieu of flowers, Wendell requested that donations be made to his family in consideration for his end of life care.
