He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Spangler and Virginia Spangler; and his brothers, Roger and Michael Spangler. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Spangler; his children, Curtis Spangler, Christopher Spangler and Lisa Ward; his grandchildren, Evan Ward, Allison Spangler, Joel Spangler and Carlie Ward; his great grandchild Lennox Ward; and his siblings, Eddie Spangler (Karen), Sharon Hayes and Mark Spangler (Karen). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
