He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Buchanan and Mary Buchanan; and his siblings, Sylvester, James, Gilmer, Roscoe and Exie Elmore.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Ann Buchanan; his sons, Bobby (Debbie) and Steven; and his brothers, Andrew and Roy. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
