She was predeceased by: her sons, Gary Poynter and Jeff Poynter (Sonia); her sister Juleen Bowman; and her parents, George Newell and Louise Newell.

She is survived by: her husband Leon Poynter; her son Steve Poynter (Carol); her brothers, George Newell and Ted Newell; her grandson Matt Holland; and her great grandchildren, Gus Ruppel, Charlie Poynter, Lucy Poynter, Liam Litz and Mackenzie Holland.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory - Greenwood Chapel (481 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
