He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert and Edith; his wife Carol L. Gerlach (Mathews); his son Brad Gerlach; his grandson Christopher Cassida; and his brother Carl Gerlach.
He is survived by: his children, Jill Wilson of Cloverdale, Sharyl Gerlach of Cloverdale and Brent Gerlach of Evansville; his grandchildren, Megan Langdon (James), Paige Cullison, Kristen, Caitlyn, Tristan and Josey; his great grandchildren, Coleton, Everleigh, Jayden, Logan and Kaedyn; and his close friend Nancy Branneman.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Robert's honor to the Putnam Co. Humane Society.
