He was predeceased by: his wife Jane Erwin (Carson); his parents, Charles Erwin and Elizabeth Erwin (Radersdorf); and his siblings, Charles "Chuck" Ewin Jr., Joe Erwin, Bill Erwin, Paul Erwin and Mary Bradford.

He is survived by: his children, Steven Joseph (Teena), Donald Walter (Dawn Newhart), Franklin Erwin (Holly) and Carol Marcum (Craig); his granddaughters, Stacia Tull (Josiah), Kendra Erwin (Christopher Morgan) and Kaela Zollars (Greg); his great grandchildren, Colton, Calvin, Cooper and Lucy; and his siblings-in-law, Farris Bradford and Mitzi Carson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and all of his wonderful neighbors and farm friends.
