He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Dirig and Ruth M. Dirig (Alter); and his sister Peggy Stookey. He is survived by: his wife Barbara E. Stephens; his children, Amanda Walker (Charles) of Pioneer, OH, Paul Dirig (Mollie) of Columbia City, Elizabeth Landis (Brad) of Kendallville and John Dirig of Columbia City; and his siblings, Jerry Dirig (Barbara) of Fort Wayne, Richard Dirig (Becky) of Auburn, Tom Dirig (Pat) of Marion, Robert Dirig (Susie) of Boise, ID and Marilyn Kopecky (Scott) of Fort Wayne.
