He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert B. Smith and Opal Brantley Smith; his sisters, Annarene Smith Davidson and Cora Etta Smith Turner; his brother-in-law Edward; and his siblings, Ruth Smith Mosley and Carless "John" Smith.
He is survived by: his daughters, Carleta Nienaber (Mark) of Columbus, Cheryl Hoffman (Daniel) of The Woodlands and Connie Leap (Doug) of Lexington, Indiana; his granddaughters, Amanda McDermott (Marc) and Angela Broussard (Ty); his sister Waylen Cass (Donald) of Scottsburg, Indiana; and his brothers-in-law, Wendell Turner of California and James Turner of Lexington, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Scaffold Lick Baptist Church or the Girls, INC. of Jefferson County or the Salvation Army.
