He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer K. Goins and Marjorie E. Anderson Goins; his sister Judy Reese; and his father-in-law Max Nasby. He is survived by: his wife Lea Nasby of Columbus; his daughters, Kyra Goins (Jarret Rixmann) of Ogilville, Nellie Stout of Indianapolis and Kathryn Merchant (Andrew) of Indianapolis; his grandchildren, John David, Kolsen, Nash Myers, Willem, Norie Stout, Samuel and Duke Merchant; his sisters, Paulette Foldenauer (Gene) and Clarice Wilks; and his mother-in-law Jane Nasby. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Southwest Fire Department via Ohio Trustee.
