With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Helen L. Chavis Elmer of Columbus, Indiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 4, 2026 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Meredith Rothrock and Margaret Rothrock; her spouse Nomie Chavis; her daughter Mary Jo Chavis Aujla; her great grandchild Megan Day; and her siblings, Harry Rothrock, Buddy Rothrock and Mary Murray.
She is survived by: her sons, Tom of Columbus and David Chavis of Columbus; and her grandchildren, Jeff Gossett (Judy), Robin Michelle Day (Michael), Tommy Chavis (Christine), Nathan Ayers and Melissa Cutler. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Revival Full Gospel Tabernacle.
