He was predeceased by: his father Carl Mitchell; his wife Viola Kay Whitlock; and his nephew Brandon Mitchell. He is survived by: his mother Alice Brumfield Mitchell; his stepchildren, Barbara Ritchie and William Freeman (Hillary) of Kentucky; his sisters, Lisa Rodriguez of Texas and Julie Macareno (Miguel) of Texas; and his cousin Betty Tobias. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
