It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Opal L. Eddelman in Columbus, Indiana, who passed away on April 25, 2026, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John R. Doles and Clara Doles (Clark); her grandson Brian Barkes; her former husband Albert Barkes; her husband Jim Eddelman; her siblings, Russell Doles (Ellen), Hershel Doles (Ruth), Vern Doles (Pauline), Hazel Houpey (Dutch) and Florence Binford (Foren); her grandson Brian Michael Barkes; her stepson Michael Dale Eddelman (Sandy); and her friend Shirley Walls.

She is survived by: her children, Donita Goddard (John) and Michael Barkes (Dana); her grandchildren, Lori, Pete, Seth, John Goddard (Kate), Dannyelle Justice (Mack) and Benjamin Barkes (Amanda); her great grandchildren, Mack, Chase, Luke, Lilly Justice, Elise Goddard, Charlotte, Jackson Lewis, Elijah, Emma and Ella Barkes; Sherry and Mike.
