He was predeceased by: his grandparents, William T. and Willie Mae Smith; and his great-grandparents, Charles and Opal McCarty. He is survived by: his parents, Paul Barger, Sr. and Michelle Smith (Higgins); his children, Emma and Michael; and his brother Kenneth Higgins.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Westport Cemetery.
