He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurman M. Lane and Francis A. E. Black Lane; his wife Lacy Lee Weber; and his siblings, William Lane, Dale Lane, Ida and Wanda.

He is survived by: his sons, Thurman Laine (Tammy) of Columbus, Keith Laine (Christine) of North Vernon, Ernest Laine (Becky) of North Vernon and Richard Laine (Ashley) of North Vernon; and his brother Larry Lane of North Vernon. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
