He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hoffman and Elsie Hackett Hoffman; his former wife Joann Nierman Hoffman; and his siblings, Mary Taylor, Beverly Grant and Charles Hoffman.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Owens Hoffman; his children, Julie Hernandez (Antonio) of Charleston and Jeff Hoffman of Plainfield, Indiana; and his grandsons, Dalton Hoffman of Seymour, Indiana, Bradon Hoffman of New Albany, Indiana, Alexander and Benjamine Hernandez of Charleston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
