He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Dencil Medaris and Hilma Doyle Shonk; his wife Maudie V. Lovins; and his siblings, Joe Medaris and Jane Shephard.

He is survived by: his children, DeeDee Haymaker (Scott) of Florida and Barry Medaris (Tonia) of Columbus; his grandchildren, Benjamin Haymaker, Jacob Haymaker, Reagan Medaris and Christopher Zeigler; and his great grandchildren, Bryson and Maddix Zeigler. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
