It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William Ray Tompkins (Columbus, Indiana), who passed away on November 4, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Tompkins and Marguerite Wingler Tompkins. He is survived by: his wife Geraldine "Jerri" Sue Tompkins; his children, Mary Boggs (Steve), William "Bill" Tompkins Jr. (Shannon), Carla Tompkins, Kevin Tompkins (Jody) and Kim Hoeltke (Jeff); and his sisters, Doris Tincher of Colorado and Nellie Ford of Tennessee. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Monday, November 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Rittman Family Funeral Home (3855 25th St, Columbus, IN 47203). A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana and the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
