He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Charles and Ada Lemon Charles Sr.; his wife Alpharetta Louise Charles; his granddaughter Kaylynn Charles; and his siblings, Ellis Charles Jr., Izona Stroud and Phyllis Ellis.
He is survived by: his children, Kent Charles (Kathy) of Danville, Steve Charles of Connersville, Scott Charles (Lisa) of Connersville and Karen Charles of Connersville; his sister Juanita Risch (Melvin) of Connersville; and his sister-in-law Pat Charles of Connersville. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
