As we bid Deota farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Deota is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Lee and Louise Stephenson; and her sister Cleota Lee (Delmar Gerling). She is survived by: her children, Karen Sue Boland, Christy Arlene Pennington and Clayton Lee "Bobbye" Gerling. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center (420 3rd St, Covington, IN 47932). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center's Covington Chapel (420 3rd St, Covington, IN 47932).
