He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry E. Spiering and Mary Louise Spiering (Kinney); and his brothers, Charles William "Chuck" Spiering and Robert Dean "Bob" Spiering. He is survived by : his siblings, Wayne Spiering (JoLynn) of Covington and Connie Lenfesty (Marty) of Danville, IL.; and his children, Crystal Spiering of Bloomington, Todd Spiering (Charlyn) of Raleigh, NC, Ruth "Babe" Harkleroad (Dustin) of Covington, Michael Spiering (Brandy) of Bloomington, Rachel Northcutt (John) of Florence, KY, Lisa Spiering of Covington, Naomi Ramirez (Christian) of Bloomington and Seth Spiering of Covington. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren.
