He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean B. Sr. Garrett and Judith A. Garrett (Rice); his wife Renea Rupright; his daughter Amanda Rupright; and his siblings, Brian Rupright, Deano Garrett and Alison Rupright.
He is survived by: his daughters, Ashley Smith (Stephen) of Pierceton and Brandi Goetz (Nathaniel) of Huntington; his sisters, Angie Fouts (Leroy) of Cromwell and Annette Madden of Cromwell; and his grandchildren, Wyatt Goetz, Adaline Smith, Jamall Smith (Livia), Cameron Smith (Aubrey) and Jamie Smith (Arielle). He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel (2901 Guilford St, Huntington, IN 46750). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at the Horeb Cemetery.
