He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ervin; his children, Susan Kopis (Theodore), John Ervin and Sharon Cieslak (Michael); his grandchildren, James Burke, Matthew Burke, Andrew Burke, Hannah Schoening, Claire Ervin, Sarah Setka and Amber Cieslak; and his great grandchildren, Aubrey Burke, Delaney Burke, Kurt Schoening and Zoë Schoening.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Hoyt's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
