With sadness, we share the passing of Marcia P. Unger of Crown Point, Indiana. Marcia, born on August 29, 1946, passed away on August 30, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband John L. Unger; her stepsiblings, Alan Noren (Carol (Steven) Johnson) and Sharon Borror (Paul); and her parents, Everett Palmquist and Ruby Palmquist.
She is survived by: her children, Mark Unger (Catherine) and Jill Miller (James); her grandchildren, Caitlin Hutton (Michael), Emily, Brooke, Riley, Jacob, Samuel, Benjamin and Lily; her great grandchild Addison Grace Hutton; and her sister Millicent Schowalter (Luke).
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Smits Funeral Home (2121 Pleasant Springs Ln, Dyer, IN 46311). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
