He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry V. Bender and Cecelia H. Bender (Angermeier); his wife Rosalind; his son Patrick J. Bender; and his siblings, Benjamin V. Bender, Ivan N. Bender, B. Joseph Bender, Frederick L. Bender, Harold C. Bender, Mary E. Davis, Carolyn R. Blankenberger and Virginia L. Beuligmann.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Bender (Jennifer), Nicholas Bender (Laura), Cynthia Bender, MD (Mike Fritz), Diana Shepherd (Rodney), Donna Rumps (Ken), Paula Schaefer (Terry) and Elise Bender (Matt Sepic); his daughter-in-law Shawn Bender; and his great grandchildren, Sebastian Welch, Evelyn Bender, Callum, Josie Carmichael, Lily, Annabelle Myers and Henry.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (10 N St Francis St, Poseyville, IN 47633). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
