He is survived by: his wife Sandra Abel of Decatur, Indiana; his daughter Amber Carpenter (Bill) of Decatur, Indiana; his daughter-in-law Jean Abel of Eagle River, Alaska; his grandchildren, Jacob Abel (Tracie), Gabriel Abel (Khafani) and Renn Carpenter (Ashley); and his great grandchildren, Cadynce Carpenter, Joseph Carpenter and Donnie Amundson.

Memorials may be made to the Bellmont Rifle Club or Blue Creek Conservation Club.
